Relaxation massage helps to improve circulation and reduces overall stress in the mind and body, relieving muscular tension through myofascial release. This is accomplished by slow, gentle and sustained pressure that promotes relaxation. Swedish massage is the most common type of relaxation massage. This is a gentle comfortable full body massage that is designed for those who are new to massage therapy, or may be sensitive to touch. This massage therapy has many benefits to help with tension and stress which we tend to hold tight in our muscles.
Other benefits are:
Effleurage: gliding strokes that are used to relax tissue and to warm the superficial layer of muscles. (Swedish massage technique).
Petrissage: squeezing, gentle rolling, or kneading of the muscles that follows effleurage (Swedish massage technique).
Friction: deep, circular movements that cause layers of tissue to rub against each other allowing the fibers to become more movement-free, helping to increase blood flow and help break down any scar tissue.
Tapotement: a short, alternating tapping that is done with cupped hands, fingers, or the edge of the hand.
Our aim in offering this relaxation massage is to encourage a sense of well-being to our clients in a friendly and safe environment.
It’s time to relax, your body deserves it! (Please be aware our clinic is not a spa therefore only therapeutic techniques are used).
