Pregnancy massage is performed in a side laying position. Extra care and consideration is taken to ensure the pregnant mothers comfort and relaxation during the massage. No. Majority of pregnant mothers feel relaxed with muscle pains and aches reduced after treatment.
If your doctor or Obstetrician has said your pregnancy is high risk for preterm labour, preeclampsia, gestational diabetes, or other complications, then they may advise against massage during pregnancy. Every pregnancy is different and unique, it is best to check with your healthcare professional if you have any doubts as the therapist may request a note from your doctor stating that they believe massage to be safe.
